This recipe ending up being a super fun one to make because I got to make it with my best friend while I was at her house. Her family likes to make these around the holiday's, just as a dessert for everyone to have or if they would like a sweet midnight snack. Mostly this recipe was very easy to make and most of the time was used in waiting on the peanut butter balls to harden and set up. This helped me move towards my goal by me being able to work with other people in the kitchen. Usually I work alone when I cook or bake things because it is easier, but this time I got the extra time and someone else also got to be involved in the process. I had a really fun time making this recipe because the outcome of them was like nothing I have ever tasted before. The point of this cupcake was to make it as moist as a cake, but also able to stay in it's cupcake hardness shell. They tasted amazing combined with some Hersey's chocolate frosting to top it off. Everyone who tried one of my cupcakes loved them so much and wanted more right after. This helped me get closer to my goal by seeing the different textures within a dessert. Mostly everyone who tried the pecans liked them for their sweet cinnamon taste which is different from just the regular nut. I altered the recipe a little bit by doubling the egg whites just to make sure the cinnamon and sugar would stick to the pecans. This helped me to getting closer to my goal by being able to get familiar with a new item in the recipe. Since I don't eat pecans, I never really thought to cook with them until my mom gave me the idea because her and my brother love the ones they get at the beach every year we go. This week turned out to be a busy one and I lost track of time so I decided to make an easy dessert as a time saver. Everyone in my house loves chocolate so muffins were a good choice. These muffins were gone within a matter of 3 days after I made them because everyone wanted more. I added a few more chocolate chips to the batter for more flavor and it made the overall outcome of the muffins better. This helped me get to my goal because it shows I can alter some recipes I receive to make the outcome even better than they would have been with the original amounts. This really helped me toward my goal because this was something new that I had never actually tried because I was nervous about the outcome and to make and it was a little bit more of a challenge as well. Although they are fairly simple you still have to make sure all the ingredients are mixing together or the dessert won't taste right. This recipe is really easy to make because the mixing ingredients and cutting the apples is pretty simple to do, it just may take some extra time if you don't have an apple peeler and have to peel them by hand. Overall this dish turned out to be great and everyone who tried it, liked it. This recipe has really helped me in reaching my goal in the project because I have never made any type of cobbler before and for this being my first one, it turned out good. Nothing This week for genius hour I decided to make homemade churros as my dessert. This recipe was very interesting and fairly easy to make as a whole. This recipe took a lot of concentration and alertness when it can to the frying of the churros because they brown very fast and if you aren't careful you will burn them. I feel like this project was a success because I got mostly good feedback and I also didn't mess any part of the recipe up. For this being week two of genius hour it helps get closer to my goal of achieving to make 11 desserts from scratch successfully. This was a very fun recipe to make because you have to do a lot of fast work especially when it came to boiling the butter, milk, and sugar mixture, then throwing in the chocolate chips. It did take longer to make these brownies then projected prep time, but it gave me more time to make sure I had all the ingredients that I need to use. I was able to get feedback on my brownies from 4 people each having different insights on what they thought of the brownies. I feel that this trial was good to the entire overview of the project because I tried a new recipe which is not something I do that often, but I succeeded at it.
